Online admissions training begins

Schools across the city began training sessions on Monday, which will go on for a week at least. Students will be guided on how to fill forms, choose colleges and list preferences in the online forms. Lots of students have been attending the sessions. The government has instructed schools to hold these sessions individually.

Last year colleges acted as submission centres, this year students can submit their forms from school, which is why the education department has concentrated on gearing up schools for the process.

“Parents and students are confident and relaxed about the whole process this year,” said Rekha Jagasia, principal of Kamla High School and Junior College in Khar. The sessions at the school take place on Thursday and Friday.

“We made sure we came back to the city in time for the training sessions. At the moment it seems quite straightforward and organised. Hopefully there won’t be any errors this time,” said Vichare.

A series of glitches marred the online admissions process last year because the server crashed. The education department this year trained schoolteachers who are now teaching students how to fill the online admission forms.
