The Nagpada police registered a suicide case after a 25-year-old man hanged himself to death at his residence in the wee hours of Saturday, as he was frustrated following prolonged unemployment.
The deceased was depressed as he couldn’t contribute anything to his family and as his father was trying to make both the ends meet by driving taxi.
According to the Nagpada police, Mohammad Shaikh, a resident of Khanduri Chawl on Duncan road was found hanging to the loft on Saturday. The police said that he had slept on the loft after he was feeling uneasy, however, he allegedly took the extreme step soon after. His wife Yasmin, 20, who had suggested him to sleep on the loft, later found him hanging there. The police added that Mohammad is HSC pass and had been unemployed since long. He was severely upset after he couldn’t find a job even after getting married.
Vinayak Sawade, senior inspector of Nagpada police station said, “There is no foul play in the incident and the deceased had expressed his frustration several times before to his family.” Soon after the deceased’s father Abdullah returned home, he informed the police about the incident, following which a case of accidental death was registered and his body was sent for conducting postmortem.
