PC should resign for ‘saffron terror’: Uddhav

“Chidambaram should resign for making such remarks,” Uddhav said on Friday. “A person who does not understand the real colour of terrorism must go.” He was speaking at a function to commemorate 25 years of the Sena’s trade union in the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited.

Earlier this week, Chidambaram had said a new phenomenon of “saffron terrorism”, involved in many bomb blasts, has been uncovered.

His comments came against the backdrop of investigators finding links between Hindu extremist outfits and at least five bomb blasts in recent years at Hyderabad’s Mecca Masjid, Ajmer, Goa, Malegaon in Maharashtra, and Modasa in Gujarat. “Can’t Chidambaram see the bloodshed in Kashmir?” Uddhav asked. “Who are Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru? Why are they being protected and not hanged? It is all a game by the Congress for vote-bank politics.”

The Sena leader demanded that the Congress make its stance clear on so-called “saffron terrorism”.

“Until recently, the Congress used to say terrorism has no colour. Now why has the Congress taken to making such statements?” Uddhav asked. “And if this is the case, then what colour would the government give to Sikh terrorism that killed Indira Gandhi?”
