People caught know jaywalking rules

Of the 45 warned, two were government officials, one a member of the Railway Police Force and the other a high court advocate.

Several of the commuters caught on Friday admitted that they were aware of the jaywalking rules and had taken the road because they were in a hurry.

“I have a meeting in my office right now,” said Sanjeek Kumar (35), who works with a travel agency. Kumar admitted that he knew the regulations and was let off with a warning.

Manoj Pisat (34), an employee of a prominent media house, was also caught while crossing the road to rush towards the station entrance.

“I had forgotten my railway pass, that’s why I was rushing back through the road,” he said, adding that he was well versed with the rules and drive. He was also spared a fine and went off seeking his pass.

“Sorry sir, was a mistake,” he told sub-inspector Tukaram Jagtap.
