Arvind Singh, 35, who works at a petrol pump in Vikhroli, doesn’t know how he landed at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar and what happened to the Rs 2.5 lakh he was carrying.

All he remembers is walking on LBS Road to deposit the cash on Monday morning. “Around 11am, Singh left the petrol pump to deposit the cash at the State Bank of India branch. Later, we found him unconscious on the road near the bank,” said Ramesh Janeriwal, Singh’s superior at Western Hindustan Petroleum.
“As per the medical report, Singh was hit twice on the back of the head with a blunt object. He did not see his assaulter/s,” said Raju Shirke, sub-inspector, Parksite police station.
Passersby, who found Singh lying on the road, took him to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule hospital at Vikhroli. He was later shifted to the Rajawadi Hospital.
