The St Xavier’s College mass media student landed a marketing job with L’Oreal during campus placements.

“I plan to do my MBA, but I want work exposure first,” said the 20-year-old.

This year, good placements are not limited to the MBA and engineering institutes. The city’s undergraduate colleges have also seen great offers.

Heavyweights such as Google, J.P. Morgan, Edelweiss and Ernst and Young have been doing the rounds with challenging profiles and lucrative packages.

St. Xavier’s had 25 firms come, with average annual pay packages of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh. Jai Hind College had more than 33 firms looking for research analysts, marketers, salespeople and advertising employees.

The trend extends to second-rung colleges. At St. Andrew’s College, Bandra, 10 firms have recruited 45 students. Last year, because of the economic downturn, only two firms had come.
