The police have deployed several policemen outside the two hospitals in the western suburbs where Sonal Goyani and Jayesh Goswami have been admitted and the media has been denied access to them.

“Policemen have been deployed outside the hospitals so that they can monitor the situation and avoid hassles,” said Mahesh Patil, deputy commissioner of police (zone 11). Sonal, the police said, has been admitted to Evershine hospital in Malad (west) while Jayesh is being treated at Bhagwati hospital in Borivli.

“Both are admitted to intensive care units of their respective hospitals and the doctors have strictly advised them against speaking. Hence, we have not been able to record their statements and the media hasn’t had access to them either,” said Patil.

Sonal’s husband, Hetal Goyani, a businessman, has been at Evershine hospital since the incident, the police said. “We have spoken to Hetal. However, an official statement has not been recorded owing to the sensitive circumstances. We are waiting for her to recuperate,” said Patil.
