Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Himanshu Roy, said that the party would be charged for damage to public property during its protests on Friday.

The Sena will have to cough up at least Rs 50,000 for damaging BEST buses at Lalbaug, Bhoiwada, Sewri, Worli Naka, Worli dairy and Chembur, and a taxi at Worli.

Roy said the party will be issued notices under Section 51 of the Bombay Police Act (BPA) for compensating the owners of the property.

“The notices will be issued through the Collector and the party will have to disburse the compensation within three to four months,” Roy said, adding that despite threats from the Sena, the film was screened in at least 35 theatres [of the 63 that had planned to screen it].
