Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam informed the special court on Monday that now only five witnesses remain to be examined. They include police officers involved in the investigation of the case — Additional CP Deven Bharti, ACP Ashok Durafe and Senior Inspector Ramesh Mahale, a forensic exp-ert, and son of MV Kuber’s slain navigator Amarsing Solanki.

Naqvi’s allegations

Meanwhile, Sabauddin’s lawyer Ejaj Naqvi alleged that David Coleman Headley, arrested and charged in the US for his alleged complicity in 26/11 attacks, was part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation team, which interrogated Sabauddin and Ansari.

Naqvi sought copies of some documents like remand applications from the special court on Monday saying he intended to file a private complaint seeking action against police officers for allowing FBI agents to interrogate his client.

“Two of the other FBI agents had disclosed their identity, but the third did not and he pressurised Fahim and Sabauddin to admit to the charges levelled against them,” said Naqvi.
