Raj to interview MNS civic candidates

In the run-up to the civic polls, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray is all set to conduct interviews, from Tuesday, of those aspirants who have passed the written exams conducted recently. Raj will conduct interviews at his Dadar residence Krishna Kunj for the next three days.

According to Shirish Parkar, MNS spokesperson, it was part of the elaborate selection process being conducted over the last two months. “We want to field the best candidates for the polls, hence this process,” Parkar said. He said the initial screening had already been done where the party’s general secretaries and vice-presidents had interviewed and graded the aspirants. “After that the test was conducted and now the interview,” he added.

Parkar said the written exams were to check the aspirant’s knowledge of the functioning of the civic body that they seek to represent. There were 1,204 candidates from Mumbai who took the test on December 4.

The exams also had their share of controversy as Raj and his estranged cousin Uddhav took potshots at each other over these exams. Uddhav had said his cadre worked on the streets while some just took exams. Raj, meanwhile, ridiculed Uddhav’s lack of civic knowledge and said he should have sent some preparatory books to him and advised him to take the test.
