The Railways have fished out an old set of map, designs and documents on the disputed 10-acre Bandra (East) land available with them and submitted it to the state on September 7, to substantiate their claim on the land adjacent to the station.

The document showed that then Collector of Thane had handed over the prime plot to the Bombay Baroda & Central India (Railway) at a cost of Rs 4,74,962 and 9 paise and 15 anna.

“This is the most genuine and certified document that has been produced by us,” said a senior railway official. A group of railway officials met Urban Development department officials and gave the designs and documents of this plot.

The prime property, that is expected to fetch around Rs 6,000 crore (as per market price), has been under dispute with both, the state government and Railways, claiming their rights over it.

“These old documents and maps have been submitted by the Railways to establish their claim. They will now be presented to the collector for his perusal before taking any decision,” said T.C. Benjamin, principal secretary, UD department.

Last month, the Railway Land Development Authority had invited applications to lease out the plot for 80 years to developers for commercial development.
