The state government will prepare a roadmap for industrial growth in next 25 years, industries minister Narayan Rane said on Monday.
Rane, who took charge as industries minister, directed the industries department officials to plan for balanced industrial growth considering which sectors would attract investment in the coming years.
“The plans for encouraging industries would be based on the local conditions. Food processing industries would be encouraged considering the agricultural production in that area,” Rane said.
He also insisted that the industries department should give priority to building infrastructure in the areas where the industrial investment is sought by the government.
The government is also planning sops for mega projects, agri industries and food processing industries.
The state that was slipping from its top position among states attracting investment in the industries, has currently been improving on that front.
The union commerce ministry in its recent date on foreign investment has said that Maharashtra received 35 percent of the Rs 11,000 crore foreign investment in first five months of the current financial year.
Rane has also directed the officials to remove encroachments on industrial estates developed by the Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation.
