The pilot project will begin at two checkposts — Solapur (on Maharashtra-Karnataka border) and Achad (on Maharashtra-Gujarat border)

“In the first phase, eight border checkposts would be computerised. In the next two phases, eight and six checkposts will be modernised,” said Dilip Jadhav, transport commissioner.

“Checkposts will be equipped with powerful CCTVs,” said a senior transport official. The CCTVs will enable the operators to verify whether there has been any change in the load of the vehicle, besides capturing photograph of the driver.

“There are cases where trucks have off-loaded or loaded goods mid-way after entering the state. This system will help curb such practices,” said an RTO official. They will also check documents like permits, insurance papers and tax papers of the vehicle.
