Sadhvi can pick city for cancer treatment

Justice RC Chavan asked Thakur’s brother-in-law Bhagwan Jha to submit a letter about her choice to the court by January 18.

Thakur’s lawyer Ganesh Sovani had submitted before the court that she may want to seek treatment at the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai or the Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (JNCHRC) in Bhopal.

A prescription slip from the JNCHRC dated January 9 states that Thakur, who suffers from breast cancer, was admitted to the hospital for examination. Doctors there said she needed surgery.

Thakur, who is currently lodged at the Bhopal central prison, has also been booked for the murder of Sunil Joshi, RSS Zilla Pracharak from Dewas and an alleged co-conspirator in the Malegaon blasts of 2006.

Following her application seeking to travel to Bhopal either by plane or by an air-conditioned train, the high court had last year allowed her to travel to Bhopal by the latter.
