Same friends, double fun

In school, Rajvi Mehta (16), Monisha Jobanputra (16) and Lakshita Shah (15), were inseparable. When the three best friends cleared their SSC exams from Auxilium Convent, Wadala, they were worried that if they got admission in different junior colleges they wouldn’t be able to spend time together.

When the three best friends cleared their SSC exams from Auxilium Convent, Wadala, they were worried that if they got admission in different junior colleges they wouldn’t be able to spend time together.

But the trio is a happy bunch as all of them secured admission through the minority quota in the commerce stream at NM College at Vile Parle.

“We will have each other’s company to commute to college and we will be more comfortable in a new environment,” said Mehta. While most students look forward to breaking out of the school shell and making new friends in junior college, there are also those who seek the comfort zone of their school friends in the alien environment. Varun Chelani (16) and his “gang of boys” from Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, decided to apply to colleges such as Jai Hind, KC College and HR College, all situated around Churchgate, so that they could spend time together in spite of their hectic college schedules.

The plans for some have gone awry as friends scored varying percentages. Yet, they hope to get into colleges that are in the same vicinity.

While Anmol Chandwani (16) and Divya Udaipuri (16) hope to secure admission at NM College, their schoolmate Anjali Hemnani (16) is keeping her fingers crossed about making it to Mithibai College. The two colleges are adjacent to each other in Vile Parle.

“Though Anmol has already secured admission at HR College through the minority quota, I hope she gets into NM College so that we can be together,” said Udiapuri.
