Santacruz murder: Woman killed constable over Rs. 20,000, say police

A day after the Santacruz police arrested a commercial sex worker on charges of brutally killing a constable in Santacruz, the cops learnt that the woman had killed him over a paltry Rs. 20,000.

A day after the Santacruz police arrested a commercial sex worker on charges of brutally killing a constable, Dilip Borole, whose charred body was found at her rented shanty in Santacruz (West), the police learnt that the woman had killed him over a paltry Rs20,000. Aarti Yadav, 30, was produced in the holiday court on Sunday and remanded in police custody till September 17.

Dhananjay Jadhav, assistant commissioner of police, Santacruz division, said, “Yadav had borrowed Rs20,000 from Borole two months ago as she had wanted to rent a house.

A month later, Borole began to ask for the money back, constantly calling to ask her about it.”

Yadav was unable to return the money and hence, planned to kill him. “When Borole called her on Friday demanding the money, she told him to meet her at Santacruz. As per the plan, she took Borole to show him the room she had taken on rent,” Jadhav said.

She then gave Borole a spiked drink and when he fell unconscious, she strangulated him with a rope, wrapped the body in a mattress and set in on fire, Jadhav said. Yadav then fled with Borole’s mobile phone, identity card and guns.

Yadav allegedly told police that she was suffering from a serious illness. “Owing to her health condition, we are unable to interrogate her much,” said a police officer. ​
