The contempt petition filed against the developers of slum rehabilitation scheme at Daulat Nagar in Santacruz (West) for constructing transit building on the road has been withdrawn by the petitioners, Relief Road Housing Societies Association.

However, the Bombay high court has granted them liberty to file fresh contempt petition pointing out their specific role on the contempt of earlier high court order as they had not given specific details on how the developers - Pioneer India Developers and HDIL - had committed the contempt.
The government is likely to inform the court on Tuesday what it proposes to do with the five-storey transit building which has been built on the 110-wide road.
Last week, the high court had pulled up the SRA and the senior police inspector (Sr PI) of Santacruz police station for failing to comply with its earlier orders in a slum rehabilitation scheme.
In 1999, the SRA had cleared a slum rehabilitation scheme which has been under litigation as local residents challenged the scheme in the high court.
Although the high court had not stayed the construction, it had said that fate of the scheme would be subject to final outcome of the petition. The high court had, however, made it clear in its order in 2001 that adjacent 100m road should be left open as per the Development Plan.

The developers also contended that the SRA had permitted them to construct the transit buildings on the road.
