A 21-year-old school maid allegedly committed suicide by consuming sleeping pills at Nallasopara on Wednesday.

Jayashri Sathe (21), who worked as a maid in a private school, shared a flat at Deep Sagar apartment with her friends, Shamika Updev (23) and Vedika Kamble (29).
Nallasopara police said the three women, along with two of their male friends — Jainuddin (21) and Hussain Hatiyeri (24) — had partied until early Thursday morning. Sathe was in a relationship with Jainuddin since the past month.
“The two boys came to the girls’ flat at around 11 pm. The group smoked and drank,” said police inspector Pradip Mane of Nallasopara police station.
As the men were leaving at around 3 am, Sathe, who was drunk, told Jainuddin to stay back but he did not, saying he had to wake up early to be at work the next morning. “After Jainuddin left, Jayashri consumed 10-12 sleeping pills. Vedika and Shamika tried to stop her but she did not relent,” said a police officer requesting anonymity.
In the morning, when Vedika tried to wake Sathe up, she did not respond. Both roommates then realised Sathe was dead.
