Also available at the schools on Wednesday and Thursday will be the booklet, issued by the education department in collaboration with its technical partner Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited, containing latest information on junior colleges, courses, streams and online application.

The education department has provided training to principals and teachers on the online application process over the past few weeks. They will, over the course of this week, train students on the process of online application before the schools close for summer vacation. “Schools that have been shut for holidays need not worry. There will be a second phase when they can conduct training for students,” said a senior official from the education department.

The admission website for the year will be functional by May 20 so that students can practice filling the forms online.

They can log in using the unique password and username specified in the booklet.

“We have instructed our ward officers to ensure that schools receive the booklets. Students can pick them up over the two-day period,” said the official.

“The online admission forms will continue to be based on the best-five format,” said the official. The best-five case is awaiting final hearing in the Supreme Court. Last year, in an interim order, the court had ruled that the best-five policy be extended to ICSE students. Previously, the government had said that only SSC students would be able to avail of the rule. The matter is thirteenth on the list.

“It will probably not be taken up for hearing this week. It could come up for hearing next week,” said a lawyer associated with the case.
