Father Almeida, principal of Father Agnel’s High School, Vashi, said he had approached the police for protection of school buses. In the absence of a formal order from the government, school administrations are in a dilemma. “Parents should call school in the morning to check,” said N.P. Mishra, principal of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial School, Sakinaka. “School will remain open unless we receive formal communication from the government”, said Vrinda Malse, principal of Sanjeevani International School.

Schools such as Utpal Sanghvi and RN Podar have declared a holiday and may compensate by holding classes on Saturday. Colleges were also divided. While Jai Hind College at Chruchgate will remain shut, M.L. Dahanukar College at Vile Parle will hold lectures.
