The second general list for junior college admissions was released late on Thursday night, with admissions beginning on Friday. Cut-offs have dropped marginally – by two to three percentage points – from the first general merit list.

"Now, that the bifocal admissions are over, this list is more reflective of the real general list cut-offs," said Suhas Pednekar, principal of Ramnarain Ruia College at Matunga. Colleges are not sure how many seats will be left for a third merit list.
