According to the police, the deceased, identified as Sajju Murutappa, was very depressed as he was unmarried and was also a heart patient.

He had been staying on the terrace of the building for the past several years, the police said.

“Another security guard employed with the housing society was the first one to see Murutappa hanging from the hoarding at the building’s terrace at around 8am. Residents informed the police, following which the body was sent for a post mortem,” said Avinash Jadhav, senior inspector, Malad police station.

The police have registered a case of accidental death since Murutappa’s autopsy report confirmed that he had died due to hanging.
