The Shiv Sena has demanded that the Andheri plot, which was allotted to a trust headed the family members of Congress leader Narayan Rane, be taken back for violation of lease conditions.

A delegation of Sena leaders led by legislator Subhash Desai marched to the suburban collector office at Bandra on Thursday, accusing the Sindhadurga Shikshan Prasarak Mandal of running commercial venture on the said 1,500 square metre plot at Amboli, Andheri (West).
"The plot was given on concessional rates to the mandal to undertake educational and social activities, but the Rane family is running a restaurant and lounge bar along with a banquet hall thus profiteering from the plot," said Subhash Desai, a senior Sena leader. "The lease condition clearly states that the plot can be taken back if any other activity takes place and that is what we are demanding."
However, Nitesh Rane, Narayan Rane's son, and also the secretary of the trust denied any violation. "The Sena leaders have now become bankrupt of issues and their sole purpose is to defame the Rane family," said Nitesh. "We are running legitimate businesses and also carrying out lot of social activities."
