Servant clobbers 61-yr-old

Last Saturday, Kuldip Bhatia (72), of Malabar Hill was attacked and robbed by two men claiming to be sent by her domestic servant.

While Parekh was not robbed, Janardan Jambore (20) clobbered her head with a hammer, after a dispute.

Jambore has been arrested and on being investigated, he claimed that Parekh nagged him often and after a dispute on Saturday, he attacked her.

Parekh is critical and is fighting for her life at Breach Candy hospital.

When Parekh’s family members were asked for details regarding Jambore, they claimed to have no knowledge about his background or residence.

The family did not even know his last name.

Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Diwadkar from the Gamdevi police station said, “On Saturday afternoon, the husband of the victim, Vinod Parekh, a businessman came home and saw his wife lying in a pool of blood,” said Diwadkar.

Parekh’s son Jignesh (28), said, “We are a family of three, my mother is alone in the house from 10 am to 2 pm and then from 4 pm to 7 pm when I and my father are out for business. Jambore had been employed a week ago after our servant met with an accident and had suggested Jambore’s name.”

When asked about whether the family had noted any details about Jambore, Jignesh said, “We do not know anything about him as we didn’t bother to do so as he was recommended by our injured servant – who was also hired for just 15 days before he left as he was injured.”

When asked if the Parekh family or their servant were registered with the Gamdevi police station, Diwadkar said, “We keep a track on senior citizens who live alone in the area and get them registered if they do not register themselves but since the Parekhs lived with their son we did not approach them,” said Diwadkar.
