Actor Shiney Ahuja (35), arrested in June for allegedly raping his maid, has got two more weeks to furnish sureties that will help him stay out of jail until further orders.

Vacation judge Justice SJ Kathawalla on Wednesday granted the extension as directed by earlier high court judge while releasing him on bail.
On October 1, the high court had granted bail to Ahuja against a payment of Rs 50,000 after he agreed to stay with his parents in Noida.
However, the court had asked him to furnish sureties within three weeks.
Ahuja’s lawyers — Sarang Kotwal and Sunil More — on behalf of the actor sought more time as the earlier advocate who was supposed to complete the formalities had failed to do so. The actor was to furnish his surety by October 22.
Advocate Ganesh Iyer was unavailable on his cellphone, stated the actor’s application.
There was inadvertent delay when it came to informing the police station in Delhi where Ahuja is residing as per one of the bail conditions.
On reaching Noida, Ahuja reported to the nearest police station.

Ahuja had got that clarified from the high court on October 16 — the last court working day before Diwali vacation.
The courts were then closed for a week, which again delayed the surety procedure, stated Ahuja’s application.
