Kadam, while addressing a group of Sainiks before party president Uddhav Thackeray spoke, had accused other leaders of targeting him, and had said that the Sena was turning into a Congress.

There were also rumours that he was planning to join either NCP or MNS, but Kadam quashed both possibilities, saying he is loyal to the Sena.

“Soon after he spoke at the function, senior leaders were told to ignore his outburst and not react to what he had said. Even Uddhavji (who spoke later at the same meeting) did not comment on the issue,” a senior Sena legislator told Hindustan Times.

He added that Kadam said he wanted to meet Uddhav and voice his differences, but there was a very slim chance that the party chief would entertain him.

Kadam, who was opposition leader in the legislative assembly following Narayan Rane’s exit from the party, has also asked his party colleagues to introspect on why the Sena lost bastions such as Girgaon, Dadar and Lalbaug.

Currently a member of the legislative council, Kadam still has three more years left on his term and it is unlikely that he will make any move till he gets a lucrative offer from any other party. “He has a hold in a few areas of Konkan and he might be of use to other parties who need to grow there. But the Sena is not likely go out of their way to get rid of him,” the leader added.
