Shot Exclusively for HT Café: The Mukherjee family Durga Puja enters its 65th year and they are excited about the biggest festival on the Bengali calendar. Along with a new theme, the Mukherjee Badi puja also has a new venue. The pandal at hotel Tulip Star is modeled on Belur Math (a famous temple in Kolkata). Debu, Rani Mukerji’s uncle, says, “The tradition was started by my father and we’re carrying it forward.”

About the change of venue, he says, “At the hotel, we have a bigger space. Also, as we have Anurag Basu, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Bappi Lahiri and others visiting, managing the crowd gets difficult.”

This year, there will also be 35 food stalls. On Sunday, there will be a performance by Hema Malini, on Monday by Pritam and on Tuesday by Kailash Kher.
