People associated with the television industry on Tuesday held a protest rally from Juhu circle to Juhu beach to show their solidarity to activist Anna Hazare and the anti-corruption movement.

Small-screen names such as Anu Kapoor, Ashoke Pandit, Sushil Parashar and Mangal Dhillon were part of the rally.

“Anna has asked people to come on the streets so we have. If the need arises, we are ready for a jail bharo andolan,” said Kapoor, who also expressed concern about the crusader’s health.

Actor Shashi Ranjan said it’s high time the government reacts. “I don’t say it’s a perfect bill, but if so many people are coming on the streets, the government needs to show it’s serious about tackling corruption,” he said.

“The government should be happy that the protests are non-violent despite lakhs of people being involved. If the government does not react, it is possible that it may take a violent turn,” said actor Susheel Parashar.

Mangal Dhillon, producer of Punjabi movies, said: “No political leader has shown the ability to bring so many people on the streets like Anna has done.”
