Thousands of commuters travelling on Western, Central and Harbour lines faced inconvenience after train services were affected due to technical reasons on Monday.

On the Western line, trains were delayed by more than 15 minutes and four services were cancelled after a pantograph (that connects the overhead electric cable with a train) of a new-age train was damaged. The incident happened at 1.55 pm when a Churchgate-bound fast train from Bhayander experienced this problem at Borivli.
“We are investigating what went wrong with the train,” said Western Railway chief PRO, S. Gupta. The Central and Harbour lines were affected after trains suffered problems with the traction motor (engine).
The Harbour line was affected after a train suffered a unit defect at King’s Circle at 10.10 am. The problem persisted for 20 minutes and trains starting from Andheri and Bandra stopped running during this time. At least three trains were cancelled.
