Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra home minister RR Patil was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital with severe dental problems on Friday.

According to sources at the hospital, the former home minister was taken to the hospital on Friday and is still admitted there. Patil needed urgent medical attention, sources said.
The hospital, however, refused to make any statement on his condition. According to sources, the 57-year-old leader had been suffering from tooth and gum problems.
“Patil was present and even spoke during the three-day Assembly session that took place after the formation of the new government, but one could make out that he had a swollen jaw. Some close associates later confirmed that he had a severe dental problem,” said a source.
Owing to the problem, Patil missed the two-day NCP convention that took place in Alibaug on Tuesday and Wednesday. Party sources confirmed the same.
This is the second time that Patil has been admitted in a fortnight and is expected to undergo a surgery, sources said.
