Within 15 days of being set up, the special court for cases under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (PCSOA), 2012, was assigned its first case on Wednesday.

On March 1, additional sessions judge Dr Laxmi Rao was appointed as special judge under the PCSOA Act to deal with cases of sexual abuse of minors.
After its inception, the court was, on Wednesday, assigned its first case registered with the Shivaji Nagar police station.
As per the prosecution case, 21-year-old Jalal Atiq Shaikh, a resident of Shivaji Nagar and four of his family members were, on November 1, 2012, booked for allegedly kidnapping and forcing a 17-year-old girl into marriage.
The Shivaji Nagar police stated that Jalal married the girl and was allegedly helped by his uncle Rafiq Shaikh, 40, aunt Noorjahan Shaikh, 35, sister-in-law Sajida Shaikh and one of his minor sisters.
The accused have been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code
