A 22-year-old man, Shailesh Kadambe, died after a BEST bus rammed into his motorbike on Tuesday in Malwani, Malad (West).

According to the police, the incident took place around 1pm, when Kadambe was heading towards Malwani. Kadambe was employed with a private firm and used to reside with his parents at Malad (West).
Kadambe had borrowed his friend’s bike, said the police. He was near Holy Angel School, Abdul Hamid Marg, when a BEST bus, route number 241, ran over his bike. The police said the driver of the bus, Anil Shetty, was driving at a very high speed and lost control of the vehicle, ramming into Kadambe’s bike. Kadambe came under the wheels of the bus. The police said the bus was at such a high speed that it dragged Kadambe for 15 m, before coming to a halt. Shetty and some locals rushed Kadambe to Bhagwati Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
“We have booked Shetty for causing death due to negligence and arrested him,” said RG Ghume, police sub-inspector.
