A 13-year-old Ahmednagar resident, who had come for a kho kho tournament in Thane, was run over by a speeding car. But his wish to donate his eyes will help a visually challenged person see the world.

Karthik Babasaheb Hardas,13, was killed in an accident on Sunday night. Karthik and his team had come to Thane for the tournament and were staying at Dosti Emperia. After dinner, some of them decided to go out to eat ice cream opposite their building.
“A speeding car ran into Karthik. His coach and other friends rushed him to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. We have booked a case of negligence against the driver, who is yet to be identified,” said a source from Kapurbawdi police station.
Karthik was the adopted son of Babasaheb Hardas from Shevgaon. “The boy wanted his eyes to be donated. The mayor has announced Rs1 lakh as financial help to Karthik’s family,” said Sandeep Malwi , public relations officer, Thane Municipal Corporation.
The body was sent to the Thane hospital for post-mortem and has now beem shifted to Ahmednagar. The team has withdrawn from the tournament.
