Sources said Sanjay Babar, a resident of Mulund, was arrested on Monday by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for making calls to the police control room on February 4, 14 and 24, warning that bombs would go off at important places such as Dadar and Hutatma Chowk.

“He even spoke of attempting to take the chief minister’s life on his second call,” said an officer while adding that all the calls were made from PCOs.

Sources said that Babar would leave a certain Kamble’s name and phone number when he made calls to the control room. The investigators tracked down Kamble and questioned him. “Kamble is a vegetable vendor. We did not see any reason why he would make those calls and after questioning him we came to know about Babar,” said Rakesh Maria, additional director general of police (ATS).

A humiliated Babar decided to seek revenge by making these calls. "We will be handing him over to the Azad Maidan police station,” Maria said.
