The state board is working on a plan to ensure that invigilation for the Class 10 (SSC) board exams that begin in February will not be affected by the census work.

The government will be recruiting teachers from aided schools for census data collection, which will begin in January and last till mid-March. The SSC exams will begin on February 22 and end on March 29. "Everyone is tense that the exam period and census data collection period overlap but my main task will be to ensure that everything will go smoothly during that period," said Ujwala Patil, who took charge as the board's chairperson on December 1. "We have prepared an administrative structure to make sure that it is not difficult to conduct both."

The state board is already working on an administrative plan to ensure that despite invigilation and census work for which teachers will be recruited, the regular teaching and assessment schedule of schools can proceed.

"We are ensuring that we take equal number of teachers from different schools for invigilation so that there are enough teachers available for school work," said Patil. She said schools could conduct their regular tests or exams as per the usual schedule.
