“We have got relief from the government to bring the Best-Five system in force for this year and we will present our side of the issue when the case comes up for hearing in October. If problems persist, we will not hesitate to come up with an Act to stabilise this system,” Thorat said, a day after the Supreme Court gave interim relief to the state backing the Best-Five system.

The minister clarified the best-five system was initiated by the government to reduce stress on students and improve the quality of education.

“The ICSE and CBSE schools are opening in rural areas also and the admission problem is not limited to urban students. The state's decision will be applicable to 16 lakh students in this state,” he said.

The minister also claimed that the grading system introduced till Class 8 will help curbing the burden on students.

“The grading system will help students at a macro level and not bring down the quality of education. It will give a chance to the students to perform well in next assignments,” he said.
