Stepmom held for boy’s death

The police on Tuesday registered a case of murder against the stepmother of two-year-old boy who died on Sunday based on the statements of his neighbours and letter written to them by Childline (Child welfare hotline) Kartik Sutar.

The police on Tuesday registered a case of murder against the stepmother of two-year-old boy who died on Sunday based on the statements of his neighbours and letter written to them by Childline (Child welfare hotline) Kartik Sutar, a resident of Pratap Nagar, was found dead after neighbours saw his stepmother Dipika beating him.

Vilas Shinde, senior police inspector, said they had registered a case of murder against Dipika. “We are questioning her,” he said.

“We have asked the police to submit the post-mortem report and then we will take further action,” said Vikas Sawant, a member of Child Welfare Committee.
