Stockbroker Gautam Vora, who is alleged to have helped murder accused Vijay Palande after he escaped from police custody, was sent to judicial custody on Friday.

His advocate has moved court for his bail, the plea for which will be heard on Monday.
According to the police, on April 10, after escaping, Palande contacted and met Vora, who drove him to Colaba from Marine Lines station and bought him clothes as well as booked a room for him in a Colaba hotel. Palande, however, was re-arrested a few hours later, while Vora was arrested on April 23.
The court had earlier remanded Vora in police custody until Friday. The crime branch sought to extend his custody.
Vora’s advocate, Rajendra Sorankar, objected to the plea and argued that his client is being falsely implicated in the case as no way could he have spent more than 15 minutes with Palande. He just bought him clothes as he knew him as Karan Sood, Simran’s brother, and not as Palande.
After hearing the arguments, the court sent Vora to judicial custody.
