Two students of Vishwa Jyot High School at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai were allegedly made to stand in front of the school principal’s office for one and a half hour on Wednesday.
Their father, Ramesh Menon (48), claimed the children werepunished as he and other parents have been agitating against the fee hike at the school.
“They asked the children to pay the fee or stop coming. Our children are being harassed for no fault of theirs,” he said.
“They made around 150 students from Class 1 to Class 7 stand outside the classes on Monday for three hours as their parents had not paid the revised fee.”
Parents alleged that the school hiked the fee from Rs 1,200 per month to Rs 1,700 per month without prior notice and asked them to pay it immediately.
The school also took additional Rs 8,500 for the Shevantabai Foundation and not in the name of the school.
The parents also claimed that they did not get any support from the school’s trustee, Kumud Bansal, who was the chairperson of the fee regulatory committee appointed by the state last year.
