Karkera (23) even gave the CAT for entry to the India Institutes of Management (IIMs) but he feels the preparation for both is different.

“With the CAT, it is unpredictable. With the CET if you solve enough papers, there will be some repetition, which is what everyone banks on,” he said.

Karkera is one of the 1,05,000 students aspiring to get into the state’s management institutes. The entrance exam is the admission criteria for 299 colleges with management courses in the state including some big B-schools such as Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) and Wellingkars Institute of Management.

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has set up 238 centres in India, 44 out of Maharashtra in cities such as Delhi, Bhopal and Guwahati. There are 57 centres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai with a capacity of 400 students in each.

Meanwhile those who have already made it to B-schools are helping aspirants prepare. JBIMS students are giving aspirants tips on cracking the CET.

They have launched websites like www.jbdon.com and http://cetmaestros.webs.com/ The website includes interviews of last year’s CET rank holders and current JB-ites and also set of questions to help them prepare. Aspirants can post queries on crc@jbims.edu.
