Santacruz recorded a minimum temperature of 15.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest this winter.

However, it was hotter compared to the lowest temperatures recorded in December over the past three years. In 2008, the coldest day of December saw a minimum of 12.8 degrees Celsius; in 2007 it was 13.8 degrees Celsius and 15.6 degrees Celsius in 2006.

Deputy Director General of the Indian Meteorological Department (western region), R V Sharma said, “Although it is the coldest day this season, it is only one degree below the normal temperature.

This is simply due to the wind pattern changes of the cool northerly winds. It will either increase or remain the same tomorrow.”

For those enjoying the festive chill, keep those jackets handy only for a couple of more days.
