Sudden rise in temperature makes Mumbaiites feel under the weather

According to the weather department, the city's minimum temperature was four degrees above normal.

"The northerly cold winds have weakened and are not reaching the city, resulting in the rise in temperature," said RV Sharma, deputy director, Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), western region.

But it's not time to put away your woolens yet.

"The temperature will come down when the brief warm spell will pass. The winter season will last till mid-February," said VK Rajeev, director, regional weather forecasting centre.

Mumbaiites, however, are having a hard time dealing with the temperature fluctuations.

"The hot and cold spells have left me with a running nose and a bad cold," said Maroof Sheikh, a student from Jogeshwari.
