Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Anil Mahabole was refused anticipatory bail by the sessions court on Thursday; the court stated that the investigation was at a very primary stage.

The Azad Maidan police registered a case of rape against him after a woman alleged that Mahabole had raped and blackmailed her after allegedly drugging her. The woman said after drugging her, Mahabole had allegedly shot a video of her in a compromising position and started blackmailing her.
Soon after the FIR was registered, Mahabole moved an anticipatory bail application before the sessions court on Wednesday. In his anticipatory bail application, Mahabole had claimed that he had been falsely implicated. On Thursday, however, he chose to remain absent during the hearing.
Before beginning with the bail argument, advocate for Mahabole, Rohini Wagh, asked for an ‘in-camera’ hearing. The prosecution, too, agreed.
