“Certain students kept getting the error page every time they tried to submit their form,” said Parikh, a student of New Era School on Hughes Road. “But I wasn’t that worried because I knew I had enough time to submit my form.” The guidance centre called up Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd (MKCL), the state government’s technical partner for the admission process, which solved the problem.

Minor problems and doubts such as these continue to dog students through the online admission process this year.

For some it has been technical errors, for others, confusion persists because they are still not clear about the application process. A few have even started the entire application from scratch as they had misunderstood the form altogether.

Others, despite submitting their forms are still not sure whether or not it has been submitted. “The booklet tells me I should get a confirmation message or email, but that has not happened yet,” said GLN Sarma, a parent of a junior college applicant. “So I am not sure if the system has accepted my daughter’s form or not.”

Some students have been receiving messages from MKCL asking them to fill in their form again as the information has been “reset” or wiped out.

But the education department has said that students need not worry about that. “Students would be aware that they reset their own forms but some times the message gets delivered late because of the service provider,” said an education department official. “MKCL has been messaging students at every stage of the process so students are up to date on which stage the form is at in the application process.”
