Abu Jaid, a Class 10 student, was abducted by his father’s enemies who attacked him with swords and choppers.

According to the police, Jaid was going to Mahavir Coaching Classes at Govandi with his father when the accused, Majid Kalia, and his accomplices Razzak, Mehendra and Masak Shaikh abducted the boy and forced him into a rickshaw.

Kalia, Razzak and Mehendra are absconding. Shaikh was arrested on Sunday evening.

Jaid’s father, Irfan Sayyed (48), a civil contractor, had constructed Mhada houses in Govandi.

Kalia, a history sheeter, had a room in the colony and has several cases of robbery against him.

Most of the robberies were carried out in the locality and Sayyed had warned him of his activities.

On Saturday, Sayyed and Kalia came face to face and got into an argument. “Sayyed threatened Kalia that he would file a police complaint against him if he did not stop his criminal activities but Kalia picked up a fight with Sayyed,” said DS Jodgujari, senior police inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station.

“The accused took Jaid to the hutment and attacked him with a sword and fled,” added Jodgujari.

Sayyed, who had followed the accused, reached the spot to find his son bleeding. Jaid has suffered injuries on his head and limbs. Jaid also had sword injury on his ankle. Sayyed rushed Jaid to Sion hospital.

The Shivaji Nagar police have registered a case of abduction and attempt to murder against the four men.

“Kalia has robbery and dacoity cases against him at Shivaji Nagar, Chembur and Ghatkopar police stations. We have launched a manhunt against Kalia and his accomplices,” added Jodgujari.
