Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society’s promoters have asked the state government what they should do to allay concerns that the 31-storey tower poses a defence risk.

Since the tower overlooks Navy Nagar, defence establishments wrote about their concerns to the state government.
“I have written to the Revenue Department and the Mumbai collector asking what steps we should take in case there are apprehensions that the building is a security risk. We will comply with those directives,” said Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, one of Adarsh’s promoters.
The Revenue Department has sought a report from the collector on the matter, he added.
On reports that the Defence Ministry may take over the building, Gidwani said: “The building is on state land.” Mumbai Collector Chandrashekhar Oak, however, said he had not received any letter from the Revenue Department. “I was asked to submit a report on the status of the building, which I did,” he said.
