Several complaints and RTI queries later, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has told the Directorate of Technical Education to enlist KC College of Engineering and Management Studies and Research in Thane in the ‘ no admission’ category for 2013-14.

In a letter issued by AICTE (a copy of which is available with HT) to the principal on April 30, it has barred the college from admitting new students this year on grounds of ‘deficiencies.
The letter mentions the inadequate number of qualified faculty, false claims on built up area and so on, as reasons behind the action.
“The committee recommended that the college be put in the ‘no admission category’,” said DS Meshram, joint director, DTE. RTI activist N Dolas said trustees filed for a stay on the directive, which was rejected.
