The Nirmal Nagar police are looking for one Shafiq Abdul Gafur Shaikh, 23, in connection with a rape case.
The victim, a homemaker from Thane, was earlier in a relationship with the accused , said the police.Shaikh had allegedly made false promises to marry the victim and had a physical relationship with her. He later started avoiding her. When she approached him, he allegedly assaulted her.

A case under section 376 (rape) of the IPC was registered against Shaikh who is currently on the run.
