Flight operations were a breeze on Tuesday with not a single disruption during the six-hour partial closure of Mumbai’s only operational runway.

During the partial runway closure from noon to 6 pm, 56 flights took off and landed at the city airport.
No diversions, cancellations or major delays were reported during the period. Airport authorities strictly implemented the partial runway closure timings. At noon sharp, the air traffic control handed over the runway to the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) staff to move equipment and men to the repaid site.
Partial runway was available for operation at 12.57 pm.
Repair work was stopped at 5 pm and the full runway was available for use an hour later. A MIAL spokesperson said that 80 per cent of repairs on the secondary runway, which was closed on October 1, have been completed. It will open for use from January 31, next year.
