While more than 20 railway employees were questioned in connection with the probe into the head-on collision between two local trains at Andheri station, none of the eyewitnesses turned up to get their statements recorded on Wednesday.

The inquiry has been initiated by the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) of north-east circle, PK Bajpai. Motormen, guards, stationmaster and other cabin members were questioned.
“Since there was a stone-pelting incident, people are not showing up. So, we don’t have an eyewitness account,” said a member of the CRS. The CRS members had visited the accident site and met some of the injured commuters. The public hearing will continue for two days.
